Terms and Conditions

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late we may not guarantee your appointment will be available. - An incursion of £5 will be added to your cost if you are late for collection, this will begin with a minimum of 30 minutes and will continue. - Please ensure your pet has had opportunities to relieve themselves before entering the salon. - Please do not feed your pet 30 minutes before your appointment. - You are responsible for keeping your pet's vaccinations up to date. -We recommend puppies wait at least two weeks after their 2nd vaccination before booking a groom. - Please inform The Barkside Grooms of any medical conditions. - You may be asked for a letter from your vet stating your pet is healthy to be groomed beforehand. whilst we are fully insured and will meet every care required of the pets being groomed, any pets left within The Barkside Grooms are left entirely at the owner's risk. -The Barkside Grooms has the right to refuse any pet without reason. -The Barkside Grooms has the right to refuse any customer without reason. - The Barkside Grooms has the right to cancel a groom if it would affect the pet's welfare to continue or if there is a risk of injury to the dog or groomer. - If your pet is found to have fleas, a fee of £12 will be charged and added to the cost of the groom. Your pet will be bathed in flea shampoo and the salon will disinfect. We advise if your pet has a tick then consult a vet as they are known to carry diseases and may need further treatment. -Any pets at the discretion of The Barkside Grooms, that may need veterinary attention will receive this and you agree that you will be liable for any resulting additional costs. -Any dogs that are aggressive in the salon may need to be muzzled, it is up to the owner to inform the groomer if they do not wash their dog to be muzzled. Refusal may result in the groom not taking place. - The Barkside Grooms reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. We will endeavour to groom your pet to your requirements, however, if your pet's coat is excessively matted, then it may need a full clip (shave off). depending on the severity of the condition, which will be discussed during the consultation, there may be an additional charge to the grooming price such as a de-matting fee. please refer to the clipping policy for further information. any additional costs will be explained by the groomer.

For XL Bully's...

In order to groom XL Bully's or any other banned breed under the dangerous dog act 1991 the following guidelines are strictly adhered to whilst the dog is in The Barkside Grooms care. The dog is registered with the index of exempted dog (IED) and a copy of the life certificate is obtained. a copy of public liability insurance certificate is obtained. The dog handler ratio is 1:1 at all times. The dog must be neutered, microchipped, kept on a muzzle and lead and kept in a secure place. We are insured and we can remove the muzzle once in the premises, however, we will ask beforehand if this is something you are comfortable with. 

Cancellations/No-shows...

At The Barkside Grooms, we strive to provide the best possible service to all customers. As a small, one-person business, missed appointments or last-minute cancellations have a significant impact on my livelihood. There, the following policy is in effect

Cancellation Notice: If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled time. This allows me the opportunity to offer the slot to another customer.

Late cancellations/No-Shows: if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, or do not show up without notice, a fee of 50% of the original full groom price will be charged before you can book again. 

If you are late to collect your dog after the appointment time is finished then we will charge a late fee of £5 per 30 minutes. Please adhere to the arrival and pick-up times. This fee is necessary as I cannot house multiple dogs at once, and late pick-ups can significantly delay my work day. 

MATTING AND CLIPPING

The clipping of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at the owner's risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems for which we cannot be held liable. The Barkside Grooms will not be held responsible for any adverse reactions to products used; this includes but is not limited to shampoos, colognes and ear cleaners. any known allergies should be discussed with the groomer before the appointment. Estimates are based on the average dog of the breed or type and assume the dog is presented in good condition. Additional charges will apply for extra time and products involved in grooming neglected coats, in particular those which require clipping off due to severe matting and for dogs whose temperament or health also requires time to complete. The Barkside Grooms will not perform any grooming procedure that causes pain or a level of stress that we think is excessive. In some situations, this can include nail trimming. We will advise on the next best thing for you and your dog. 

Matting can be very harmful to your dog if left unattended. When matting becomes very close to the skin it may cut off blood circulation to that area. serious matting can be painful to your dog. If your dog's coat is not regularly groomed, the skin cannot breathe properly. it may become torn and infection could set in. In seriously matted dogs, every movement will create pain. Should your pet snap when being touched, or start dragging and scratching itself, matting could be the reason why. the 'hot spots' for matting are underneath the armpits, the chest, behind the ears, the rear end and around its tail. They could occur anywhere else, however. your dogs' safety and wellbeing are our absolute number one priority and every effort will be made to ensure this. we are fully insured and trained to be dog groomers, however, please be aware that working with animals and sharp tools means that unfortunately, accidents (including cuts, nicks, scratches, over-trimming of nails etc) can occasionally happen. No responsibility will be taken for any irritation, abrasion or hair loss due to any pre-existing skin condition.
